A 3-time gold medal winner in two Paralympic disciplines, Alana Nichols is the definition of determination. After her life-changing injury and two year hiatus, Nichols found her way back into athletics and accomplished more than she had ever dreamed.
With six Paralympic medals already in tote from her ventures in wheelchair basketball and alpine skiing, Nichols arrived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2016 Paralympic Games attempting to win in a third sport, sprint kayaking.
Coming just short of her medal goals, Nichols finished seventh place in the world. An impressive feat to say the least. Sprint Kayaking introduced her to her new-found passion, Adaptive Surfing.
Now, Nichols is doing everything she can to push for the sport’s inclusion in the 2024 Paralympic Games.
